PUNCTURE REPAIRS In Wakefield

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHECK YOUR TYRES?

To ensure your car is safe and roadworthy you should check your tyres regularly. There are a few key areas which require regular checks, these are:

Tyre Pressure – ideally you should check this monthly. Make sure your pressure is not higher or lower than recommended. Why? Because under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance on the road (reduced fuel efficiency and increased CO2 emissions). As for over-inflated tyres these experience excessive wear and a loss of traction (poor braking). Tyre Tread – this needs checking less frequently, maybe quarterly. The treads are the grooves in your tyre. You can measure the depth to check how much life is left in your tyre (should be at least 1.6mm). However, if you truly want safe tyres then you need a new tyre when the tread is 3mm.
